The President of Spain is in trouble, and it’s not just the opposition asking him to step down—it’s actually his own party. At least 30 of the highest-ranking members of the Socialist Party signed a letter requesting that he resign from his position as Secretary General of the PSOE, which stands for the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party.

To justify this request, they claim he is closely tied to individuals involved in corruption scandals. Although her name is not mentioned, the First Lady—his wife—has been linked to extremely serious corruption cases.

In addition, these 30 members, including senators, state that he has acted against the Constitution. They ask him to resign as the party’s Secretary General in order to restore the dignity of the party.

Do you think he will listen? How will this affect his government?

The PSOE leadership has requested Pedro Sánchez’s resignation as Secretary General of the party after being implicated in multiple corruption scandals that have affected both his inner circle and his administration. At least 30 senior officials from the Socialist Party signed a letter demanding his resignation, arguing the need to restore the party’s honor and credibility. Although not directly named, the pressure has also intensified due to cases involving his wife, the First Lady, who has been linked to alleged misconduct. The signatories also accuse Sánchez of acting against the Spanish Constitution and undermining the country’s democratic principles. This request marks a serious internal rift within the PSOE and poses a significant challenge to the continuation of Sánchez’s leadership.
