Massive wildfires have broken out in a place not known for wildfires.
Images have emerged revealing terrifying images of smoke emerging on Long Island’s East End have shut down a main route to the Hamptons, creating a smoke cloud visible for miles.
The Hamptons, as most people know, is among the wealthiest areas in America.

Authorities have been reportedly forced to close multiple roads including Route 27, Sunrise Highway, and Montauk Highway as firefighters work to contain the blazes. All of this while battling high winds and humidity.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared a State of Emergency and wrote on X that her office is in “close communication with local partners on Long Island to coordinate assistance and make sure they have the resources they need to protect their communities.”
“The fires are just wrecking havoc,” Hochul told News 12 before declaring the state of emergency.
Hochul also said the National Guard is in the air with Blackhawk helicopters that are dumping water on the fire and that “One or two homes” have so far been destroyed in the fire “with others that are in the way.”
Brookhaven Supervisor Dan Panico reavled to News 12 that 40 fire departments are on site fighting the flames.
Police officers are asking drivers to steer clear of the area until the fires are under control.
