Finally! Rutgers Debates Whether Race Based Scholarships Are Good After Civil Rights Complaint

Rutgers University has deleted four “woke” race-based scholarships from its website after a civil rights complaint was filed against it on Friday.

The Equal Protection Project (EPP) filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, according to a report from Campus Reform.

Finally, a much-needed debate is happening in America as a result of the proactive anti-Woke measures and enforcement by the Trump administration.

Despite these scholarships being deleted, the complaint provides archives for each award.

One example was a scholarship giving preferences to “underrepresented minorities,” even though racial discrimination is illegal.

Another program focused on “underrepresented students,” whatever that means.

Another scholarship was the NACME scholarship for “under-represented (African American, American Indian, or Latino) and/or first generation.” What about White Americans living in poverty?

Rutgers distanced itself from the scholarships.

They told the New York Post, “The university will closely review the complaint, but based on preliminary information, two of the scholarships are not administered by the university and the remaining two are no longer being awarded,” the statement read.”

EPP’s founder, William Jacobson, responded strongly to the university.

According to Mr Jacobson, “[A]s of the date of our complaint, all of the challenged scholarships were actively promoted on and active according to the Rutgers website (see screenshots and links in Complaint),” he wrote. “It is irrelevant whether Rutgers ‘administered’ the scholarships (though we believe it did) since it promoted them, and the application was made through Rutgers.”

“[W]e are calling on Rutgers to live up to its own set of rules — that shouldn’t be controversial.”

EPP has lodged similar complaints against Florida State University, Western Michigan, and the University of Miami.
