President Trump surprised reporters when he appeared on the roof of the White House Press Room on Tuesday, potentially surveying the area for new construction.

He told reporters that he is planning to build “something beautiful” and that he is going to pay for it personally. “It’s just another way to spend my money for the country. Anything I do is financed by me, so you don’t have to worry. It’s contributing just like my salary is contributed, but nobody ever mentions that,” Trump said.

Reporter: Mr. Pesident, what are you doing up there?

Trump: I’m taking a little walk. It’s good for your health.

Reporter: What are you building?

Trump: It goes to the ballroom, which is on the other side

Peter Doocy: Are you considering more rennovations, sir?

Trump: Hello, Peter!

Reporter: What are you going to build up there?

Trump: Something beautiful… More ways to spend my money. We’ll show you. It’s just another way to spend my money for the country. Anything I do is financed by me, so you don’t have to worry. It’s contributing just like my salary is contributed, but nobody ever mentions that.

This comes after the White House announced long-awaited plans to build a new ballroom on the property.

Last week, Trump told reporters that he’s paying for the $200 million project and “They’ve wanted a ballroom at the White House for more than 150 years, but there’s never been a President that was good at ballrooms. I’m really good,” he said. “I’m good at building things, and we’ll get it built quickly and on time.”

Previously, Trump was seen on the White House lawn as he planned to install brand new flag poles on the North and South lawns of the White House.

About two months later, the new flags were raised on the lawns where they fly high today.
