Barstool founder Dave Portnoy had strong words for Democrat Gen Z voters who are embracing socialist candidates like radical NYC Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.
Portnoy joined Fox Business on Monday, where host Stuart Varney noted, “Young progressives like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Zohran Mamdani are the future of the Democratic Party.”
Varney then played a clip of some Gen Z voters extolling the “virtues” of socialism with one saying, “I think more politicians should be adopting socialism.”
Varney asked Portnoy for his thoughts.
“Blahhhh..makes me want to puke, Stuart. That’s how I feel about that,” Portnoy replied.
“Listen, these are college kids. They’ve probably never had a job in their lives. They’ve grown up, probably coddled, reading books about how the world is. But they’ve never been in the real world.”
“I don’t like any government that disincentivizes initiative, working hard…and that’s what socialism does.”
“I’m all for taking care of people and trying to give back, but what entrepreneurs do is they create jobs. They create livings. They create wages.”
“I just fundamentally look at the world…socialism doesn’t work. There are plenty of examples of it.”
“And I just fundamentally have a hard time with a 19 or 20-year-old who’s never had a day….and I know you can resonate with this…you’ve got a lot of mileage on those tires, Stuart….I just can’t have somebody who’s been alive for five seconds lecturing me on the ways of the world.”
“I can’t do it.”
