A North Korean official condemned U.S. strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities and Israel’s actions to advance its interests “through ceaseless war moves and territorial expansion” on Monday.
The U.S. entered Israel’s war by bombing Iran on Saturday night, hitting three nuclear sites in the first ever use of the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator “Bunker Buster” bombs.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump addressed the nation on Saturday night, hours after the attack, which he called a “spectacular military success.” He further threatened Iran that “there are many targets left” and “we will go after those other targets with precision, speed, and skill” if they retaliate.
The mission, dubbed “Operation Midnight Hammer,” was further discussed by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Caine in a press conference on Sunday morning. The 18-hour-plus mission was “the largest B-2 operational strike in U.S. history, and the second longest B-2 mission ever flown, exceeded only by those in the days following 9/11,” said General Caine. The strikes also utilized more than two dozen Tomahawk land attack cruise missiles.
The nuclear-armed Iran ally, North Korea, said the U.S. and Israel are guilty of “amplifying serious concerns as they have further aggravated the tension in the Middle East.” They further condemned the U.S. for having “tolerated and encouraged Israeli acts.”
“The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea strongly denounces the attack on Iran by the U.S., which severely violated the UN Charter with respect for sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs as its basic principle, and also the norms of other international laws, by violently trampling down the territorial integrity and security interests of a sovereign state,” the unnamed Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea said in a statement reported by North Korean state media KCNA.
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said in a statement on Sunday that “a number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads,” attacking Trump for “push[ing] the US into another war.” According to a 2024 Federation of American Scientists report, North Korea “may have produced enough fissile material to build up to 90 nuclear warheads, but the famously opaque country has likely assembled fewer than that—potentially around 50.”
Full statement below:
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea strongly denounces the attack on Iran by the U.S., which severely violated the UN Charter with respect for sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs as its basic principle, and also the norms of other international laws, by violently trampling down the territorial integrity and security interests of a sovereign state.
Opposing the threat and exercise of force that undermine the territorial integrity and political independence of a country in international relations constitutes the purpose, principles and fundamental spirit of the UN Charter that reflects the unanimous will of the international community.
The present situation of the Middle East, which is shaking the very basis of international peace and security, is the inevitable product of Israel’s reckless valour as it advances its unilateral interests through ceaseless war moves and territorial expansion, and that of the Western-style free order which has so far tolerated and encouraged Israeli acts.
Acts of Israel and the U.S. are amplifying serious concerns as they have further aggravated the tension in the Middle East and brought serious negative consequences on the global security structure by use of physical strength under the pretext of so-called “peacekeeping” and “removal of threat”.
The righteous international community should raise the voice of unanimous censure and rejection against the U.S. and Israel’s confrontational acts.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, nuclear-armed Pakistan also condemned the move, stating, “the unprecedented escalation of tension and violence, owing to ongoing aggression against Iran is deeply disturbing.”
The Middle Eastern nation further opined that “Iran has the legitimate right to defend itself.”
