JUST-IN: Nuclear-Armed Pakistan Condemns U.S. Iran Strikes After Recommending Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

President Trump speak on Iran strikes, joined by VP JD Vance, SOS Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth

The Government of Pakistan has condemned the United States’ strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, expressing fear of “possible further escalation of tensions in the region.”

Pakistan is estimated to have approximately 170 nuclear warheads in its arsenal and is not a member of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, an international agreement which aims to prevent the use of nuclear weapons. According to the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation, “Pakistan has not declared a No First Use policy.”

It is unclear if they would side with Iran in the case of an all-out war in the Middle East.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, U.S. forces executed “Operation Midnight Hammer,” destroying Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan nuclear facilities. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Caine recapped the operation in a press conference this morning.

President Trump also delivered remarks hours after the attack, with a warning to Iran that “there will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days.”

Pakistan said in a statement that last night’s strikes “violate all norms of international law and that Iran has the legitimate right to defend itself under the UN Charter.”

“The unprecedented escalation of tension and violence, owing to ongoing aggression against Iran is deeply disturbing. Any further escalation of tensions will have severely damaging implications for the region and beyond,” they said.

The UN Security Council will also meet on Sunday at Tehran’s request after Iran’s United Nations Mission sent a letter condemning the attacks.

Full statement from Pakistan:

Pakistan condemns the US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities which follow the series of attacks by Israel. We are gravely concerned at the possible further escalation of tensions in the region.

We reiterate that these attacks violate all norms of international law and that Iran has the legitimate right to defend itself under the UN Charter.

The unprecedented escalation of tension and violence, owing to ongoing aggression against Iran is deeply disturbing. Any further escalation of tensions will have severely damaging implications for the region and beyond.

We emphasise the imperative need to respect civilian lives and properties and immediately bring the conflict to end. All parties must adhere to international law, particularly International Humanitarian Law.

Recourse to dialogue, diplomacy, in line with the principles and purposes of the UN Charter remain the only viable pathway to resolve the crises in the region.

This comes less than 48 hours after Pakistan announced they would formally recommend President Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, the Pakistani government cited the President’s “diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership during the recent India-Pakistan crisis” in their statement, suggesting that Trump deserves the Nobel.

“At a moment of heightened regional turbulence, President Trump demonstrated great strategic foresight and stellar statesmanship through robust diplomatic engagement with both Islamabad and New Delhi which de-escalated a rapidly deteriorating situation, ultimately securing a ceasefire and averting a broader conflict between the two nuclear states that would have had catastrophic consequences for millions of people in the region and beyond,” Pakistan said in a statement.

“This intervention stands as a testament to his role as a genuine peacemaker and his commitment to conflict resolution through dialogue.”
