U.S. Army Post Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas, has reportedly been placed on lockdown due to reports of a potential active shooter incident.
President Donald Trump recently announced that the base would revert to its original name, Fort Hood, after being renamed “Fort Cavazos” in 2023.
At roughly 7 p.m. local time, military officials initiated emergency protocols, and posts to social media reported active shooter alarms and a lockdown.
Video from the scene featured a loudspeaker announcing, “An Active shooter incident is occurring on the installation, avoid all outdoor areas. If the active shooter is in your building or nearby, lock the door.”

An Army parade had been taking place nearby at Fort Cavazos in honor of the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary.

No official reports of casualties, suspects, or motives have been released.
A spokesperson for Fort Hood issued a statement saying, “There was an incident on the installation, and we are working to gather more information.”
